Stevia For Eggs, Coffee Can Ice Cream, Typical Sunday Farm Happenings......

Every morning starts with a delicious breakfast consisting of something made from fresh eggs and then of course the fuel for my early mornings....COFFEE!

Then I wash the eggs from the previous day and get them ready for the regular egg customers - today I will be making a trade for Stevia plant from Rebekah, the very first egg customer of the 'acre'..............
Stevia!! Beautiful leafy PURE Stevia! Can't wait to see if I can make my own extract from this!

Then I pulled out all my seeds and did a little research to see what I could plant in my fall garden....

The garden and fields are coming along aesthetically and almost the way I envisioned the farm from the beginning....just a little more work to be done!

Waiting a few more days before I cover these bad boys with a paper bag to keep the birds away and to also catch the fallen seeds.....mmmm-mmm!

Clean coop and fresh cedar shavings! Yay! The girls couldn't WAIT to get in the nesting boxes...

After I hosed out the coop, I spread out cedar shavings underneath as well to naturally take care of the smell and it seems to deter the flies too...cedar is great!

Hugs from Misty....

"Hey Misty! What's up?"  - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Aw, not not much, Milly - how ya feelin', sis?"

The family is ALWAYS together!
Eli the fatty......

My oh MY! You have put on a lil weight, my friend......Who would have ever thought Eli could pull through his sickness and nalnourished state from when we first got him!?!?!? With LOTS of love, attention, and dedication, he is now far from sickly....and he is quite the perfect specimen of a Saanen buck - only he is missing his....uh...you know....buck trait(s)....he is merely a pet now! (;
Misty and her wattles!

Milly enjoying a little forage in the new field....
Catch me, Milly!

Ellen's airplane ears...ready for take-off!
Hey, daddy - I LOVE ewe!
Now the recipe for the COFFEE CAN ICE CREAM!!!
What you will need for this recipe:
1 empty one pound tin coffee can
1 empty two pound tin coffee can
1 CUP raw honey
3 CUPS raw goat milk
4 farm fresh egg yolks
1 vanilla bean
1 fresh from the tree peach
Separate the yolks from the egg whites........
Measure out your honey........mine was solidified, but fresh will work too! I was just trying to make good use of some 'old' honey!
Grate the vanilla bean into the milk and heat in a sauce pan until bubbles form around the edges of the pan, then stir in the honey until all is mixed....
Remove milk and honey mixture from pan and pour into a bowl or large cup and add yolks.......
Place mixture (milk, eggs, honey, vanilla) in the freezer for about 45 minutes or until cool......
After the mixture has cooled down, time to pour it into the smaller coffee can. After you put the lid on the can, reinforce the seal with some duct tape. Now place the small can inside the large can and start adding ice and salt layer by layer until the can is full but you have enough room for the lid to fit snug.....
Roll the can either with someone (back and forth) or between your own hands (long rolls back and forth from right to left) for about 10 minutes, then take off the big can lid and add more ice and salt. Get back to rolling for another 10 minutes, then add more ice and salt. Roll for about 10 more minutes and take the small can out of the larger can, remove the tape, and you should see a solid ice cream top!
Push down the top, and mix the ice cream. Cut up your peach, pour ice cream into a bowl with the peaches, stir up, and place in the freezer to harden.......
After a few hours.....VIOLA! Homemade raw goat milk, honey, and peach ice cream!!! Yummy to my tummy!!!
