Yikes! Last weekend whooped my butt, and I have been playing catch-up on the farm since weekends are usually when I get the bulk of things done around here... Yesterday evening, I had planned on getting a little bit of the important stuff done before the rain rolled in, but it seemed like the universe gave me waaaaaaay more time than I needed, and I ended up getting ALL the acreage cut, dragged the horse fields, and even had time to swing with Barnie in the hammock for a bit. Crazy. This evening after work, I plan on doing something I haven't done in probably a year. Vintage clothes shopping. I am SO EXCITED. Then this weekend I hope to get Reece, work in the shop, and plan out a few more projects... Since it has been a week since I last posted, here is what all has happened in my little world...
Last Saturday & Sunday, I tended to the 4th market/fair at Neat Pieces. It was the biggest yet, with 17 vendors & artists, live music, BBQ, tarot, tea leaf reading, tintypes, and local pastries.... and here are a few pics from that event...
Then when I got home Sunday evening, Eddie and I took a nice long walk on the farm, as I mentally prepared for another workweek.....
...yes. I even put up new 'christmas' lights on the porch!
... this week's words of wisdom.... ha!
As I started painting the front room/ entrance into the workshop, I realized I may be stuck in the 80s and should possibly look for some JAMS and a hyper color shirt to wear this summer, as my current selection of paint colors is sooooo 80s. I love it though. Color makes my life complete!
The mess always looks the worst just before it looks amazing, right? I have a little work to do, but it looks like the next week will be rainy and wet out, so perfect for indoor projects!!
the Esty store went on a hiatus in 2014. Although it is back up and running, I am not quite fully unpacked. Crazy. Five years later and I may just be ready to roll again!
Yes. I decided to finish and keep one of the indoor kennels. Reece has been spending a lot of time here at the shop, and I figured, why not? I have the space, the outdoor run (300+ square feet on concrete!) complete with a pool that he is terrified of, and lots of Eddie's retired toys.
... meanwhile, Spring is in bloom around here, and I couldn't be more happy...
....and this year I have already found quite a few of these... <3
My zinnias are sprouting!!!!
...and this ol' goat just turned NINE!!!!!!! I can't believe it. When I rescued him, I did't know the first thing about goats. He was near death when I git him and Ellie, and he was touch and go the first six months I had him, but look at him now. The true definition of a butthead.... and boyyyyyyy do I love him!!
This weekend, the clearing will continue, and the posts to the right in this pic will be one of my fencelines to a new section that will be secure enough to bring some of my project dogs for breaks from the shelter and a little fresh air at the farm. I am disassembling all of the outdoor chainlink runs from when this was a boarding facility, and making a very large 1/4 acre yard. This year is gonna be huge. Lots of dreams and plans becoming a reality in year five at the farm. Life is good!
Have a great weekend! I am planning on blogging a bit more this weekend since I got all my chores done yesterday evening! Lots of time to play and plan...
Here are a few beautiful pics from around the farm this morning after the rain.....
the garden is looking delicious! My lettuces, spinach, and strawberries are almost ready!!!
