Friday, Friday, Friday.... I am so glad you are here!! Work was a bit hectic this week and I have been counting down the hours until I could sit down and blog a little....
I haven't been here in a week, so here is a little bit of what has happened since then:
I decided that in this new decade that I have started, I would like to kick off the first year with some completed new goals.
~After sleeping on (and dreaming about), my first experience riding a horse, I do think that I would like to do a little more of that...
~I want to try a winter garden...
~I want to try a winter garden...
~I want to get back into sewing again and I will start that tomorrow! I have already made plans for that!
~I want to volunteer at least once every couple of weeks at the local shelter. When my sister was here visiting last, I signed her up to volunteer and she loved it! I went back the next weekend and enjoyed it as well. I haven't made the time to go back, but I want to do that - make time for giving back.
~I want to make more of an effort to have beautiful plants in my yard.
~I want to get back to my baking days....
...and most of all I want to celebrate all the things that I am thankful for more often! As I posted about three weeks ago (HERE), I have been dragging my ass to the gym six days a week, and am glad to say that my health is definitely benefiting from it! I feel better, and I have actually gotten in the swing of things!
Now for the week in pics! All these were taken with my iPhone. I haven't touched my real camera in weeks!
I got to spend the whole day with my original dj partner of Bitch Switch, Mandy Jane. We had a lovely time as we always do when there is time (she is now a mama of three, so it is a very rare occasion we get time without the kiddos). We found ourselves out at her old studio where we had a photo-shoot TEN YEARS AGO!!! Of course I had to snap a current pic in the same spot!!
A lot has changed since those days, but what hasn't changed is the fact that we still have our child-like appreciation for the little things, our love of music, and our spontaneity for a little fun. One day we are gonna make it out for a game of pool....
It's been a tentative plan for a few years now. ;)
The rain has been absolutely AMAZING. Every evening it has stormed - thunder, lightening, and tons of rain. I love a good storm and we had too long of a stretch without one, so I couldn't be happier! The fields are once again lush and green and all the animals are happy and full...
Eddie doesn't care for the storms at all... poor boy is terrified. He gets as close as he can to me or Christian. We bought him a Thundershirt for the anxiety and it has helped a little.
All of my flowers are super duper happy!!!! <3
Rainy days make for the best lazy days......
I have not been able to do any yard work, so instead I opted to stock up on fancy cheeses and spend a little extra time on my studies while pampering myself! I do feel like chocolate and cheese are good for the brain!
I found the old cartoon 'Charlotte's Web' on ON DEMAND and realized that Eddie really enjoyed it, so when it starts storming, I put it on and he sits in front of the tv just like this..... Is that not the funniest sight???
The mornings have been extra dewy with all the humidity. I ain't gonna complain though - I mean just look!!
Eddie got his BarkBox this week and it is something he really actually enjoys every time it comes. I would never have believed it if someone told me how much dogs actually love it. It is like they know.... This week, one of the stuffed toys was a fish taco, and as soon as i opened the box, he stuck his nose in, grabbed the fish taco and ran off to play with it. We have probably just as much fun with it as he does!
He also got a squeaky hedgehog....
...oh! And it came with his very own doggy tabloid! Ha!
There was a full moon on my way to the gym yesterday, so since there is no traffic that early in the morning, I was able to stop and try to capture the beauty...
...and the sunrises have also been just as beautiful....
I have really been getting excited keeping these flowers going. My friend gave them to me before she moved, and I have never really tended to flowers before. I have bought flowers from the garden stores, but just let them take care of themselves in a flower bed - and normally there is enough rain to do so. This summer was super dry, so these were a challenge. These are so pretty, every morning when I get back home from the gym, I go water and visit with them and I swear I can see them perk up a little when they see me!
I mentioned earlier about me getting on track to be healthier. Well, that means eating more veggies. In the last year I will admit that I fell off the good eatin' wagon and had been eating like a teenager. I am certain it was all my sister's fault! Ha!One of my favorite and super easy things to cook is roasted brussel sprouts. The guys at work cannot stand it because when I reheat them, well, it does not smell so great... oh well! It is what it is.
We had beautiful skies a few days this week just before the storms rolled in and I was able to hang in the field and give the girls some attention. Hazel had the worst tangles, but I was able to get them out without too much fuss.
