today & the next week...

I got home this evening from work and realized it is WEDNESDAY!! This happened last week as well. I am guessing as you get older time flies faster. Anyway, I have now less than one week before something major happens at the farm!!! Next Tuesday is when the farm B&B opens up our doors for a few furry friends for the very first time!!!

Yes, I am super excited about my guests, but also have a few things to do in order to prepare for their arrival as well as the normal things I have fallen a little behind on because of my new venture in taking some online classes in addition to getting used to my first summer with these new horse additions....SO, lots of things to do, short time to do them.... and I work better in a pinch if I make a list...

For starters, let me introduce my fancy guests....
A very large horse by the name of 'Big G', a very tiny (standing at a whopping 31" tall) 27 year old miniature pony (that is housetrained!!!) by the name of 'Taffy', and then there is Plum. I don't know too much about Big G and Plum because I have been obsessed with the fact that a tiny elderly little miniature version of 'Hazel the Hornless Unicorn' will be within reach soon! Eeeeeeeeeek!!!

So anyway, a few things I need to do before next Tuesday:

Get an electric fence tester. Christian's brother came into town last night and tested a few of the fencelines for me (ha! Ohhhh to be 21 again), but I need to test a whole lot more and don't want to torture the kid!

Get the pastures topped off. This is supposed to be happening Friday...

Hooves trimmed on Rose and Hazel.

Add a few more things to the garden project. I call it my garden project because of all the rabbits out here. This is the first year I am attempting a garden out here, so fingers crossed that they continue eating the stuff they have been eating these last two years and leave my garden alone. The garden is deer-proof, but I have no idea how you rabbit-proof! I was late in the game getting started because I was hesitant on if I would even be successful with all the wildlife out here, but I will only know for sure if I try, right?

...and finally my online vintage clothing store. I fell really behind last Winter and now have a plethora of coats and jackets that need to GO so that I can add some more summer stuff which helped to fund the farm animals! I have been coming out of pocket for the crew here and that hurts - especially with all the hay and fencing for my first Winter after taking in the sweet Rose and then earlier this year I had some unexpected schooling that she and I both needed in order to remain safe. So, online additions coming this week and weekend for sure!

I am excited to have another dinner at the house with Christian's brother - last night we had chicken tacos, chips, and Coronas. Tonight we had lasagna, salad, and french bread with a decadent coffee cake afterwards...

I am soooo enjoying having Christian's brother out. It's nice to have good company and to see Christian so happy and connected with his family. He's quite the delightful guest too - I came home today and the dishes were done! I'll be sad to see him go tomorrow, but he promises to visit more often - this was his first time out at the menagerie and he seems to have enjoyed himself.

My eyes are snapping shut and I am looking forward to drifting off to dreamland....

xoxo!
