2022

I hope you all had a safe and fun new year's eve/ new year's day! I stayed home while Christian worked, making sure Poptart felt safe and secure in her blindness, and also making sure Reece got to spend his night running back and forth 'chasing' all the surrounding fireworks (yes, he is that dog - he LOVES fireworks - ha, my little weirdo!). Sadly our night was cut short when Reece accidentally ran into a small pile of bricks I'd stacked up to move... he got a little scrape on his face and front leg, but nothing serious and he was fine today, thankfully.

Here are a few snapshots from the last 24 hours:

Reece absolutely elated at the fun that fireworks bring! That face!!

Morning joe and a snoozing Poptart...

...the sun bursting through the clouds while out on an early morning walk with a friend....

...making cornbread with eggs from my girls....

Traditional (but vegetarian) New Year's Day eatin'. Tofu, blackeyes, collards, & cornbread

...took a drive out to a friend's house on this 80 degree (!!!) day for a cocktail and convo....

Lot's of cookin' in this kitchen, and I made sure to wash up all the dishes when I came in from feeding all the farm critters. Tomorrow (Sunday) is and always will be my lazy day. There is something about waking up and making coffee in a spotless kitchen, amirite???

It's the beginning of a new year, and I am so ready for this 'clean slate'. It is a time for a fresh start for many of us, and I look forward to this time to set a few small goals for myself.

I am looking forward to having the time to get back to my regular blogging schedule now that (2020 and) 2021 has gone buh-bye - what a couple of crazy years? 2020 was just plain weird and 2021 saw some major losses on the farm when Misty and Bonnie passed away. Truthfully, I do have many seniors here, and it is likely I will lose someone this year.

Poptart came into our lives, and inspires us daily, and in a year with lots of challenges, I survived!! I am excited to get back to the weekly 'worn' segments, mixed tapes, and can't wait to share the farm happenings as well as seeing what the universe has planned.... Happy New Year! 2022 is going to be a good one!!

Here are some of my goals for 2022:

~ more volunteer work now that I have the time

~ love more & be kind, but recognize when an unkind person might need to be 'checked'.

~ drink more water

~ purge clothes I don't need. It has been a few years since I did this, and it doesn't take long for them to pile up in this little farmhouse..... in other words, live simply. I think I may even experiment with only wearing what I already have (shoes included)  OR only buying used/ recycled clothing (aside from underwear, socks, and good sneakers when needed)!

~ create. create. create. hustle & flow. pave a new way for my future that doesn't include sitting at a desk for eight hours a day.... we shall see......

~ make more time for cocktails and conversations with friends

Goodnight, all! I am headed out to walk the pups on this balmy January night.....while wearing shorts.
