hello, tuesday......happenings around the farm...

Whew! I have so missed my regular blogging, but as I sometimes do, I got in way over my head on a few projects...

One of them being very dear to my heart, the animals. I decided to take on the task of coordinating volunteers at the Colbert Vet Rescue to better serve the animals. As with most things, without structure, there is chaos, and we all know that animals are more mentally and physically healthy with routine....

Every single day after working a full day, I have been heading to the rescue to figure out a solution. In the last few weeks, I have been able to successfully recruit some excellent volunteers, willing to schedule themselves for a weekly shift. The change in just this short amount of time to some of the dogs has been quite remarkable. Next week is the first week since I started this that I am going to have a few free evenings off! The schedule is filling up! So exciting!!

Also little sis graduated!!

Annnnnnnnnd little step-sis got married, and I was able to photograph it as her wedding gift - a frugal but exciting thing for me. She was a beautiful bride!!!!!

Another thing I have been somehow finding the time for outside of work and volunteering, is getting the concrete building on our property cleaned out! This means painting desks, and boyyyyyy have they been selling! So cool. Still have five more 'doggie doors' to block up, but once the desks are all gone, I can do that as well as clean, get the roof leak fixed, and then start taking baby steps to make it into a workshop.

All of my critters are well, and the rain has been abundant and steady. I hate to admit my gardening went to crap this summer because I felt more inclined to help out at the rescue, but I will shoot for a Fall garden - try to anyway! We have TONS of wild blackberries, chickasaw plums, apples, and peaches, so soon the Sweet Stuff Sunday segment will be back with seasonal gluten-free treats!

The property is so lush and green, and we have been successful in keeping it up, 'training' the newly cleared land so that it will be good for grazing next year, and soon I will have some brush pile burns.....

I have also been purging the loft. I have decided to downsize my vintage collection. All twenty-five years worth. I had a yard sale last weekend, and am having one last sale next weekend....It has been going well, and while I am sad to see it go, all the pieces are finding great homes, and this also means more space for Fox & the Forest projects!

Well, I am off to work, and then to train TWO new volunteers after! So exciting to see such a good, positive change in the animals at the shelter, especially after sitting in an office all day - dog walking  = free therapy AND good karma deposits! If you are interested in volunteering at the shelter and you live in the Athens area, shoot me a message using the contact form on the top left hand side of this page! It is Tuesday, which also means $2.99 deal day at The Fresh Market!! Yowza! Hope to be back more regularly now that I have come to point in all this ^^^^ to where I have the time to blog! I leave you with yet more photos from the last month.....
