OMG!!! Moving!!

So, I have been very bad at keeping up with the blog with all the house buying business, moving, and unpacking, but now I am at a good enough place to get back on track.... here are a few photos of the progress in moving.... Man, moving SUCKS! I have managed to move all my stuff, and have unpacked and organized most of it, so my awesome new sewing loft/ closet/ creative space is almost done! Here is a peek inside my new space:

My new awesome space has a small skylight, so during the day I get lots of natural light... I can't wait to be all settled in this house so that I can put this space to good use! Here is a glimpse at what the living room looks like from the loft.....
......and now some outside pics with Baby!! This is from the end of the driveway.... ahhhhh... so much greenery!! Loving all these trees!
The backyard..... More trees and a small back porch!
.....my morning view.... The other day, there was the most beautiful rainbow in the field across the road.
 Baby approves!
She brought out a carrot to snack on while catching some sun-rays.....

This old girl is loving the new place and all the freedom out here! No more leashed walks! She can run, run, RUN freely!!!
The angel that has been with us at two other houses made it to the new place yesterday.....
Can you tell Baby loves it??? She can't wait to have her chicken friends and goats over here! Hopefully by the end of June they will call this their home as well!
This is our bedroom. That is a very pooped Baby girl.
After the morning explorations at the new house, we headed over to the farm to visit the critters...
Eli was feeling extra frisky today.... Lauren had the sheep sheared and the guy also trimmed Eli's hooves and gave him a little haircut too! He cannot STAND for me to touch his hooves, let alone trim them!

Eli has recently decided that the chicken coop was erected just for him so that he could better reach the tree leaves....  Is this just the funniest sight or what? He went back and forth like a typewriter....
The other gals were too busy eating grass in the field to care about getting their pictures taken....
Little Miss Milly:
 Miss Ellen:
 Miss Misty:
 I gotta go, guys.....
 Ellie is the sweetest. Always.

 Nom nom nom....

Gonna miss this kitty when I move the goats and chickens to the new house! I have already seen two cats hanging around the new place though.... one is solid white and the other is a black and white kitty.. none will be as sweet as Swirls though...

Sweet Stuff Sunday!!

 Double Chocolate Cake!!

Today's sweet treat was divine. So much so, that we did not share like we normally do. William and Troyceanne got their dessert, but the rest went in our bellies. Christian said this was his favorite so far of the 'Sweet Stuff Sunday' treats....
Ingredients for the cake:
  • 2 cups Cup 4 Cup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup very strong brewed, piping hot coffee

  • Preheat oven to 350ยบ F. Prepare three  9-inch cake pans by buttering.
  • Add Cup 4 Cup, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Stir through mixture until combined well.
  • Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to dry mixture and mix together on medium speed until well combined. Reduce speed and carefully add piping hot coffee to the cake batter. Beat on high speed for about 1 minute to add air to the batter.
  • Distribute cake batter evenly between the three prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes, remove from the pan and then add icing.

  • For the frosting:
    • a stick of butter
    • 4 tbs cream cheese
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tbs granulated sugar
    • 6 tbs unsweetened cocoa
    • 2 C confectioners sugar
I melted the butter and cream cheese together on the stovetop on low, removed from heat, then added the vanilla, granulated sugar, and cocoa.  Add 1 C confectioners sugar and mix on high with hand mixer, then slowly add more until you get the consistency you like - may take more or less than 2 C total....

    want/ need/ hear/ read

    want:
.....a disco ball. Yes! Is it really that much of a shocker? I would love to have one hanging from my soon-to-be back porch on my very own farm.... ahhhh... I can picture it hanging now reflecting the sunlight onto the house during the day and reflecting the twinkling colorful Christmas lights onto the house at night.....
You can get your very own ball of mirrored magic HERE.
    need:
BOXES!! Our closing is next week, so we have been packing... Still collecting boxes from work and last night Christian bought a bundle of boxes, but I am sure we are gonna need a whole lot more! I can't wait to be all moved to the new place!!! Yikes!! and Yay!!! and Yipppppppeeeeeee!!
    hear:
George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set On You"
This song came out when I was 11 years old. It was one of my favorite songs and videos at the time and still is on mt list of favorite songs. This song seems appropriate for what has been happening recently with unexpectedly buying a house and lots of land and all... I am gonna post the lyrics as well for this one just because they are so fitting with my situation now!
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you

    But it's gonna take money
    A whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take plenty of money
    To do it right child

    It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, ummm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
    To do it right child

I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you

And this time I know it's for real
    The feelings that I feel
I know if I put my mind to it
I know that I really can do it

I got my mind set on you
    Set on you
I got my mind set on you
    Set on you

    But it's gonna take money
    A whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take plenty of money
    To do it right child

    It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, ummm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
    To do it right child

I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you
I got my mind set on you

And this time I know it's for real
    The feelings that I feel
I know if I put my mind to it
I know that I really can do it

    But it's gonna take money
    A whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take plenty of money
    To do it right child

    It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, ummm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
    To do it right

    Set on you
    Set on you
    [Repeat]

    read:
'Woodcut' by the late Bryan Nash Gill. He explains his love for creating art in his handmade 3,000 square foot studio that he built from wood on his property: "This is my sanctuary. I’ve been in a bad mood and I have come in here and felt better. Just like you do when you take a walk in the woods. I try and capture the essence of the wood and bring that out in my relief prints. Wood gives me a good feeling and I look into the layering and growth lines to find something beautiful, unique and meaningful."
This is a beautiful book and you can get your very own copy HERE.

    What I Wore...

In the haste of packing up the house, I have most of my clothes packed up until we are all moved and unpacked in the new house, which will be another two weeks... I actually loved the outfit I threw together today - it made me feel a bit like a high schooler again! Jeans were from Target - 2012, shirt was vintage, boots were obtained at a steal of a deal when someone dropped them off to be re-soled at the local shoe repair shop and they never came back to get them - they are Durangos that I got back in 2009, and sweater is from Target 2013.
